Buddleja davidii 'Bishop's Velvet' was raised at the late Sir John Quicke's[1] garden at Newton St Cyres, in Devon, England. [1]

Description

'Bishop's Velvet' grows to a height of 2.75 m. The foliage is dark green above, grey-green beneath. Unlike other deep purple varieties, the throats of the flowers are the same colour. Otherwise, the paniculate inflorescences are typical of davidii. [1]

Cultivation

'Bishop's Velvet' is rare in cultivation, and not known beyond the UK. [1]
